When markets enter superposition

Sasha Lazarevic is an IBM Quantum Technical Ambassador and Qiskit Advocate. He works with enterprise teams on the transition between exploratory and applicable quantum: algorithms, hardware roadmap, and the concrete conditions under which a quantum workload can enter a regulated production chain.

When markets enter superposition

How quantum computing could reshape finance

Quantum computing has spent the last decade moving from physics labs into early enterprise pilots. Finance is one of the first sectors where the maths line up: portfolio optimisation, Monte Carlo simulation, risk calculation and certain derivatives pricing have all been mapped onto quantum algorithms. The question is no longer whether the algorithms exist — it is whether the hardware can run them at the scale and reliability that a regulated workload requires. Sasha Lazarevic walks through the state of quantum in finance in 2026: which algorithms are mature enough to test, what IBM's roadmap looks like, where the limits actually are, and what a CTO of a bank, asset manager or insurer should be paying attention to.
